Video analysis

Send Raj footage of the action. He sends back what to work on, and how.

Coaching that doesn't depend on either of you being in the same place. A player films their action on a phone, Raj analyses it properly, and a written report comes back with the drills and exercises to fix what he has seen.

It costs less than a session, it works from anywhere in the country, and you can do it around a school week rather than around a diary.

How it works

1. Film the action from a few angles. A phone is fine — there is no need for special equipment. Side-on, front-on and from behind the arm gives Raj what he needs. Several deliveries, not one.

2. Send it over. Get in touch and Raj will tell you where to send the files.

3. Raj watches it properly. Not a glance — the same eye he would use standing in the net, with the advantage that he can watch a delivery twenty times.

4. A written report comes back. What he sees, what matters and what doesn't, and the specific drills and exercises to work on it.

5. Film it again when you're ready. Most players get more out of this as a series over a few months than as a one-off, because the change is what you are looking at, not the starting point.

Raj will tell you what he wants filmed and from where when you book — it depends on what you are working on, and a phone on a tripod is usually enough.

Who it suits

Players outside Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey who can't easily get to a session. Players who can, but whose week doesn't allow it. Club coaches who want a second opinion on a bowler they are working with. And parents who want to know whether their child's action is safe before spending anything else.

What it can and can't do

It is very good at the things Raj can see: the action, the grip, the release, the shape of the delivery, and whether a young bowler is doing something that will injure them.

It is not the same as being in the nets, and Raj won't pretend otherwise. Some things need a coach beside you. If footage shows that, he will say so rather than sell you another report.

What it costs

From £40.

The rate can be discussed if you want a series of sessions over a period, which is how most players use it. Raj will confirm a price before anything is booked.

Tell Raj who is bowling or batting, how old they are and what is not working. He will tell you what to film.
